Our divers

Our divers come to us from all over the country, and from overseas, excited at the prospect of diving our world-famous fossil rivers. They range in age from 10 yrs to Great-grandfathers, some are brand-new divers, and others are experienced, having been SCUBA diving literally all over the world. Most of them return to us time and again, and many become our very good friends. It has been a very great pleasure to meet and work with these fine people, who really enjoy our "South Carolina style" of diving and hospitality!

Frank Jensch came all the way from Germany to try to fulfill his "dream of finding a giant MEGALODON tooth. Frank was a world of fun to be with during his three days of diving with us.  He is now a valued friend.  DM Tim is holding the dreammaker tooth, a beautiful MEG 6 ˝ inches long , and 5 inches wide!!!

Art H and son Caleb have been coming from Pennsylvania to dive with DEEP SOUTH RIVERS since 1998. Their group has good divers and have been very successful with good finds, and come for the weekend a couple of times of year.  As of 2006, Art has done more than 50 dives with Deep South Rivers- and he keeps coming back for more!

Jonathan Almond from McBee, SC, has been diving with us since he was 14 yrs old.  Here he is pictured holding a clay trade pipe circa 1840 he found. He was proud of his find…. and we are proud of him-a great kid!!!

Jim Troutman came back to us all the way from Bosnia (he only has 10 days once a year for R & R) His first time with us was in 1999 when he found 9 very pretty MEG teeth over 4 ", and 2 that were over 5 ".He also found a perfect 8 " saber tooth from a saber cat.!!! ( Captain Alecs' all time favorite fossil) No wonder he wanted to come back..

"The Virginians" This group hails from Roanoke. Tom "Cigar" on the far left is a Great-grandfather. He is a great guy, too. In fact, they are a great group!!! Pictured here at a "favorite hole" local seafood restaurant in Mt Pleasant- the Wreck of Richard & Charlene"
